OUR MISSION IS TO CONTINUE TO IMPROVE OUR EXISTING PRODUCTS, AND DEVELOP NEW ART EQUIPMENT PRODUCTS THAT THE MARKET WANTS, AT PRICES CONSISTENT WITH GOOD VALUE.

•Affordable    •Durable     •Versatile     •Elegant

In 2007 our market research identified an unfulfilled demand for a new line of steel art equipment products that would provide a lighter duty, more affordable alternative to our current Klopfenstein product line—and be built to our traditional Klopfenstein standards of quality, durability, simplicity and versatility.

We acquired and analyzed currently available products; their cost, their strong points and weak points; and rated them on a value scale of “overall performance per dollar cost”.  We established our own performance criteria, which considered such factors as ease of assembly (including easy to understand assembly instructions), and performance characteristics such as adjustability, simplicity, versatility, and durability.  We then set about developing a completely new, innovative line of affordable, high performance steel art equipment.  We named it “The Spectrum Collection by Klopfenstein”.

Early in 2007 we began building prototypes of our new product line.  To keep our new products affordable we decided to make them of welded and bolted steel construction instead of the all welded construction used in our Klopfenstein products.  To make them strong and durable we designed them so that the bolt-together parts would attach to the welded part in triangular configurations resulting in a rigidly constructed, yet lighter duty product.  Instead of drilling bolt holes through the steel tubing (which could potentially cause weak points) we decided to use electrically welded threaded studs with self-locking nuts for the attachment points.

After building, testing and evaluating scores of prototypes, we felt our new Spectrum products were ready to introduce to the art community — and the result is the Spectrum Collection of products which are now available and showcased on these pages.

Much like our Klopfenstein products, all of our new Spectrum art equipment is carefully machine and hand crafted entirely in our manufacturing facility.  We do all the tube cutting, forming, shearing, punching, welding, painting and assembly right here in Lexington, Ohio.  We feel this is the best way to control quality and ensure our ability to provide replacement parts for our equipment, should the need arise.

We view product development as mainly an evolutionary process of incremental improvement, with sporadic revolutionary breakthrough developments which may, in themselves, contain the DNA of a completely new product.  Much of our product design work and ongoing improvements are uniquely customer driven. With that viewpoint in mind we welcome and encourage customer feedback and suggestions as to how we may potentially improve our current products, and possibly what new products, or additional product features, our customers may be looking for in the future.
